Leg Aching Causes

Standing for long periods is hard on leg veins. It tends to cause poor circulation and can produce swelling and aching in the legs unless you are doing some activities or movements while your are standing. For the most part, symptoms are rarely described as painful, but more as if one is experiencing an ache and it is most noticeable at rest, hence why many people find it difficult to get to sleep or to sit and rest for a while.

Primary RLS is the most common type of RLS. This is the condition that people complain about to their doctors. Most doctors and researchers guess at the cause and most agree that it they don't know much about it. Injuries from an accident, which causes either upper leg pain, or lower leg pain, will result in a broken bone, heavy bruising, perforated skin, or in severe cases, a crushed limb, all of which require medical attention and care.

The decreased efficiency of the valves in our veins leads to insufficient return of blood from the legs. The valve at the top of a vein can become 'incompetent' and stops working properly; this allows an abnormally high pressure on the section of vein beneath it. Treatments may begin with the use of compression stockings and various home remedies such as elevating the legs, weight loss and exercise. If these methods are unsuccessful, other treatments or procedures may be used to bring relief.

Pain down the leg is often accompanied by other symptoms such as muscle weakness, numbness in certain areas of the leg. With sciatica from a disc herniation bending forward increases low back and leg pain while bending backwards reduces the leg pain (and sometimes the LBP). Avoid standing on your feet for a long period of time. This is especially true in the last few months, when your body weight becomes heavier.

Not doing sufficient exercise can lead to varicose veins, smaller spider veins and even DVT. Insufficient exercise can make the circulation less effective. This can effect both those who are unable to move around due to mobility issues and those who are forced to be stationary for much of the day due to their jobs. If you do consistent, moderate exercises several times a week for several months, you will reduce the swelling of your varicose veins and prevent more from forming in the future. Your legs will feel great and you will have more energy, attractiveness and get-up and go!
